Morning Coffee from India on Youtube, Raga Lalit

Bamboo Flute, the divine music instrument of Lord Krishna, is one of my favorite instrument, next to Sitar. These traditional instruments from India dont and cant make all the loud 'noises' that the modern electronic music instruments can make to capture your attention by 'force'. Rather, they produce very subtle medlodies that take can you in within the music realm, if you can fine tune your ears for the energy to flow on.

Today, I wake up listening to this beautiful morning time raaga Lalit. This is such an energetic and powerful raga, played by Rajendra Teredesai, "one of the foremost disciples of the most celebrated and internationally acclaimed flute maestro of our times - Padma Vibhushan Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia." Listening to essential morning raga can make your day a great success by increasing your vitality to face a day long work.

Try this Morning Coffee for a week, instead of your usual one with toxic caffeine. You will definetly feel the difference and appreciate the Indian taste!

Oldies for a retrospective night!

Asha Bhosle is one of the best known South Asian singer from Sangli, a small hamlet in the state of Maharastra. Her voice has mesmerized, and is mesmerizing even now in her old age, countless fans in India and from all around the world. Today, when I was listening to Global Spirit, a World Music album of Karunesh, I was told by my friend that one of tracks that I loved in it was actually a very old song, originally sung by Asha Bhosle. Quickly, I turned to Youtube and there I am listening to this wonderful song.

Asha Bhosle, what a voice, you are gifted with!

Below is the remix of the same song, by Karunesh, in his album Global Spirit.

Tonight Pied Piper - Lorrie Sarafin

When the piper stops, pay what you are indebted to her!

This is my first Tonight Pied Piper blog post, so here is what I intend to do with this series. Listening to music at night is a wonderful feeling. It relieves us from the daily stress, balances the mood, gives us hope and at last a good sleep. So I call for a Pied Piper a day in my music library and if their music soothes my heart, I promise them to write a blog post on their music. So that's the deal!

I recently joined New Age Music Ring, after my friend at newagemusic.nu, BT invited me to join. Not so late, I found Lorrie Sarafin and was listening to her beautiful music. The present video music is her " tribute for a young woman" whom she had met "while playing my flutes in a local hospital." I  personally like flute music a lot and her composition is quite meditative for a serene night! Thanks Lorrie for the wonderful music, generously put on Youtube! Your music has given me some emotional support tonight.

I paid my debt :)

My New Addiction and Yours too, maybe | Vanessa Mae | Destiny

Posted in:

What is happening in me? Am I becoming a Vanessa Mae addict? For the past few days I have been listening to Vanessa Mae and nothing else. Her Devil’s Thrill thrilled me much and was listening to her music albums and watching some videos on Youtube. Those who watched her Devil’s thrill will understand my addiction. Her music videos are superb and make my jaws open wide apart.

Here is another Youtube video of Vanessa Mae: Destiny —A splendid mixture of techno beats with sensual tune. Vanessa Mae plays in the center and the camera keeps rotating around her in continuous turns. While I love her music, I also like her hip movements in this video that synchronize with her bow movements and music. She indeed has a good taste in being trendy and fashionable in her looks, like her music!!!

Sonu Niigaam performing live at Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia’s 70th birthday celebration

5 days passed since Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia’s 70th birthday. Living in Pondicherry in South India, it was not possible for me to attend the grand function in Mumbai (24hrs travel by train from my place) for Hariji’s bday. I hoped for some fans of Harji who have been to the function to upload the perforamance on youtube. At last here is a video from the function — Sonu Nigam, “India’s best playback singer or as the Golden Voice of Indipop”, performing live at Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia’s 70th birthday celebration. I wish Harji’s fans upload more video music from the function, especially classical ragas.

Promoting a Child Rapist Music? I am ashamed

While I was writing this post, I received an email from one of my friend who closely reads my blog. The email hurt me a lot and put myself in a moral dilemma. For I never knew that Oliver Shanti had developed a bad reputation for himself by involving in massive crimes, sexually exploiting children (over thousand, it is said) until my friend said those in his email. The mail shocked me to the core and made me think a lot about why I should write a music post on such a person? Should I just look at his music and shouldn’t bother about his personal life (public crimes) when I write a music review?

I like this music of Oliver Shanti but I dont know if I will listen it anymore after reading some horrible facts about Oliver Shanti.
